Catholic Virtual provides courses either through a Catholic school partner or directly to families. If the course is taken through your Catholic school, the school determines the tuition it charges. Consult your school for information on their tuition. Tuition for courses taken directly with Catholic Virtual may vary based on grade level, course type, and the time of year.

If your school offers Catholic Virtual courses, you will enroll through the school, according to their enrollment procedures. If you enroll in a Catholic Virtual course directly, either contact an enrollment counselor at the phone number shown on this website or enroll online in the Courses section of the website.
Catholic Virtual teachers support courses in different ways, depending on the course. Some courses are independent study, with teachers grading and advising through online messaging. Many courses also may include live online instruction. If you take a Catholic Virtual course through your school, the amount of live instruction is determined by the school and may be between one to five sessions each week per course. If you enroll directly with Catholic Virtual, courses are offered as independent study. Many courses are available with live instruction delivered on a fixed schedule. For a more individualized experience, we offer one-on-one instruction. We also offer supplemental tutoring services to enrolled students, available in packages of five hourly sessions, available for an additional fee.
Catholic Virtual teachers are subject matter experts degreed in their subject area and highly qualified to teach in a Catholic school. All Catholic Virtual teachers undergo a rigorous onboarding process and training through Catholic Virtual, ensuring they are well-trained in best practices for teaching in an online environment and in a Catholic school program.
At Catholic Virtual, a team of dedicated professionals work together to ensure student success. In addition to trained teachers and a dedicated school leaders, Catholic Virtual also provides the services of Student Success agents to work individually with students and families that need additional support. If you run into an issue, you can submit a customer support ticket 24/7.
The amount of parent involvement will depend on the age of the student, the student’s academic needs, and whether a course is provided through a Catholic school or directly with Catholic Virtual. Every parent or guardian has a personal login to the parent portal to follow the student’s progress, communicate with teachers, and receive support. We provide orientations and academic support services to assist students throughout their studies.
Catholic Virtual is a fully accredited online private school. We have been awarded accreditation by all the regional accrediting agencies that span the Cognia (formerly AdvancEd) global network. Catholic Virtual courses are guided by state and national standards, as well as the Catholic Curriculum Standards.
Yes, students can move at an accelerated pace in Catholic Virtual courses.
We ask for families of enrolled students to send the IEP to our student services department. Upon receiving this information, we will schedule a meeting with our academic advisors to review the student's plan and needs.
For many students, online learning provides flexibility that allows them to be more successful than in a classroom setting due to the ability to work at their own pace and built-in instructional resources. Consult with a Catholic Virtual advisor or a counselor at your school to discuss your student’s specific learning strengths, challenges, and needs before enrolling to assure we are a good fit for your family.
Some courses have required materials. A list of required supplies is provided at the beginning of a course. Students are given advance notice of materials needed for upcoming lessons. The Courses section of this website provides information on all our courses.
Students interact with each other in discussion forums within some courses. We also encourage students to remain active in their parish and community.
Parents are provided a login to our Student Information System platform and are able to check on their student’s progress throughout the course and semester.
Catholic Virtual currently serves students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.
As a student’s parent or guardian, you have access to your student’s records in our Student Information System (SIS). When you log into the SIS, click on your “guardian account” you can view grades by clicking on the “grades” tab inside the Student Information System.
All Catholic Virtual teachers are highly qualified subject matter experts. They also are highly experienced in online instruction and teaching in a Catholic school program.

Students receive a variety of assessments throughout their courses. Courses contain summative and formative assessments. Standard assessments include essays, projects, fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, and true-false type questions.
Students may be able to retake assessments in content after a relearning or reteaching exercise with instructors. We also offer tutoring, for an additional fee, and high school credit recovery courses if a student needs to retake a failed course originally taken with Catholic Virtual or another school.
High school courses are taken for credit toward graduation. High school courses are one semester in length and each worth one-half credit. Some courses are two semesters long (one full academic year) and are separated into two halves, an A semester and a B semester.
Yes, we offer credit recovery courses for students who need to retake a previously failed class to earn credit. We also offer honors and Advanced Placement courses in many different subjects.
While no course is the same, we recommend spending at least an hour each school day per course to keep yourself on pace to complete the course. For example, if you are studying six courses at the same time, you should spend six hours each day to keep yourself on pace. Students may work at their own pace, but they must make adequate progress to complete the course before the end of the semester.
Live instruction is a component of several of our teaching models. Live sessions use an online instructional/conferencing platform to coach and teach students. The teacher controls the classroom, but students can interact with the instructor and one another. The online classroom includes chat, a whiteboard, and breakout sessions.
Catholic Virtual courses are paced over the course of 18-week semesters. Live sessions, if included as part of a course, are between 30 and 60 minutes in duration.
Most classes have 25 or fewer students.
Students may interact with each other during live lessons and in some discussion areas within the courses.
For courses taken as independent study, students can access course content when and where it is most convenient. If a course includes live instruction, the session schedule is set by Catholic Virtual or by your school. Live sessions usually occur during typical school hours and on a regular schedule.
Our platform works with Apple and Windows and the most popular browsers. For optimal performance, we recommend the following technical specs: 4GB PC (Windows 7,10) or 4GB Mac (OS 10.7.5+) running the Chrome (80+) or Firefox (74+) browsers with high-speed internet (2Mb+). Some courses may require Adobe Flash and Adobe Acrobat Reader. We provide a technical readiness section of the student orientation when your student is enrolled.
Catholic Virtual’s support team operates 24/7. You can submit a support ticket to our team and someone will respond to you promptly. Remote support is available as well, if the support requires a screenshare.
A Student Information System (SIS) is the “main school office on the computer,” It is where you go for all the information needed about your child’s progress, to schedule meetings with staff, to get transcripts, etc. The SIS allows students and guardians to access all student records, grades, and information; send messages to instructors; request transcripts; submit a support ticket; among other activities. The SIS has a full student tutorial in the Help Videos section. Parents have access to the student’s SIS account at all times.
