Catholic Virtual is a program of Virtual Schools of Excellence, an accredited, faith-based online program that serves students in grades K-12. Catholic Virtual strives to provide students with a high-quality, college preparatory education while allowing students to be immersed in a rich, faith-filled environment in the Catholic tradition. Students can attend full time or part time, designing pathways to college and careers that include blending online classes with options such as face to face instruction, attendance at brick and mortar schools, and some home-school experiences.
Catholic Virtual provides all students in grades K-12 with Theology and religious education aligned to the USCCB standards. In addition, teachers infuse all courses with discussion and assignments appropriate for a Catholic education. All teachers have access to approved faith formation training for teaching in Catholic schools.
U.S.C.C.B. STANDARDS: “…It is important to note, however, that not all catechetical texts and materials are subject to a conformity review. The fact that a given item does not appear on the Subcommittee’s “Conformity List” does not necessarily mean that it has been reviewed and found to be deficient, or that the publisher has failed to submit it. A conformity review is not applicable to materials that fall into one of the following categories: 1) Catechetical materials that provide doctrinal content in teacher or catechist manuals rather than in student materials. The Subcommittee will undertake a conformity review of teacher or catechist manuals only when they complement student materials that already have a declaration of conformity or are under review for conformity. 2) Catechetical materials that are published in the form of regularly updated leaflets or periodicals with frequently changing content. These include materials related to the Church’s liturgical year. 3) Individual monographs which focus specifically on individual topics, teachings or devotions, including biblical commentaries and college level student texts. 4) Materials that include biological and physiological content along with catechetical content. 5) Digital media, including websites and DVD’s. Even if these materials are not eligible for a conformity review by the Subcommittee, individual bishops and their diocesan offices typically monitor and approve such catechetical materials for use in schools and parish catechetical programs.”
The Lower School program partners with families to provide a nurturing environment consistent with their value system. All coursework is accredited and delivered by certified educators who will prepare students to excel throughout their elementary years. Our goal is to ensure each child works with educators who understand the importance of providing curriculum in a faith-filled environment.
Middle School Division
Middle school is the time when students can explore options or begin to determine their strengths as they relate to possible careers and preparation for high school. Serving as the transition between lower and upper school, the middle school team provides a secure bridge, while preparing students for rigorous college prep classes. Advanced eighth grade students have the opportunity to take several courses for high school credit.
